Modern philosophy has largely abandoned earlier metaphysical pursuits due to debates on universals and the separation of philosophy from theology. In the Muslim world, ethical concerns lack a systematic approach, and theological education lacks depth. The embrace of Western science has had negative consequences for Muslim societies and the planet.
